Your supplier relationship quietly determines your warranty rate, your reviews, and your profit. Great technicians lose money every week because of parts they should never have bought.
Understand the grades before you buy
Display assemblies come in very different tiers — original service parts, refurbished originals with new glass, and aftermarket panels of varying quality. Each has a legitimate use case and a very different failure rate. Know which tier you installed, and tell the customer plainly.
How to vet a supplier
- Do they publish a real warranty and honor it without a fight?
- How fast is replacement turnaround on a defective part?
- Is grading consistent across multiple orders?
- Do they support small buyers, or only high-volume accounts?
- Are shipping times realistic for a same-week promise to customers?
Test with small orders
Never commit a large order to an unproven supplier. Order a few units of your highest-volume part, install them, and track defect rate over a month. Keep two approved suppliers so a single stockout never stops your business.
Protect your reputation
Cheap parts fail in touch response, brightness, true-tone behavior, and battery health messaging. A single bad batch can undo a dozen five-star reviews. Buy quality, charge accordingly, and explain the difference — customers respect honesty about part tiers.
